Wagon Wheelsets: Mainly used for railway wagon vehicles such as open-top wagons, tank wagons, flat wagons, covered wagons and hopper wagons. Worst operating conditions, low operating speed, large wheelset load, and tread braking method is normally adopted.

Passenger Wheelsets: Mainly used for railway passenger vehicles such as urban subways, passenger trains, light rail vehicles, and high-speed EMUs. The operating lines are relatively good, the operating speed ranges is from 60km/h to 350km/h and higher, The axle load usually small than others, and tread braking method and disc braking method are adopted. The production, manufacturing, and inspection requirements of wheelsets are relatively strict.

Locomotive Wheelsets: Mainly used for railway locomotives such as steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, and electric locomotives. The axle of the locomotive wheelset is equipped with transmission gears to provide traction during the locomotive's travel. The locomotive wheels have a larger wheel diameter, more production processes, and a complex assembly process. They are the most difficult wheelsets to manufacture among all railway wheelsets.

Special Wheelsets: Mainly used for some non-conventional railway vehicles such as cranes, port machinery, and testing experiments equipment. The manufacturing and inspection requirements is quite different from those normally railway wheelsets.
